Description

Paragraphs and Picture Books is a family style language arts guide, filled with 35 lessons to do with your entire family. Yes, you can teach everyone from kindergarten to high school together!

The lessons in this guide cover all kinds of language arts concepts: grammar, parts of speech, story elements, writing techniques, writing style, improving reading comprehension, inspiration for creative writing, and more!

Bonus: there is NO printing necessary for these lessons!

Each lesson also includes specific ideas for how to adapt the lesson for every ability level in your family.

With your older kids, one lesson a week could carry you through a good chunk of the school year! Younger kids could go through the lessons more quickly. But Paragraphs and Picture Books not only gives you lessons to use throughout the year, but it also shows you how to use any book to teach language arts concepts!

Paragraphs and Picture Books includes a list of suggested picture books for you to use, that you can grab from the library if you don’t own them. However, you may also find that you already have books on your shelf that work perfectly with these lessons.

    Absolutely love this!!

I love the ideas & plans for each book and how it ties into other aspects of learning how to write. I am very bummed that our library doesn’t have very many of the books. I was really looking forward to the simile & metaphor one, but the library doesn’t have that book. Any other suggestions for that lesson?

I’m so sorry that you can’t find the book at your library! You can find it used on Amazon for $6 or less, and in my opinion it’s a book worth having in your own personal library. :) The book Hello Lighthouse by Sophie Blackall is another book that has good similes and metaphors!

I haven’t had a chance to use this resource yet but it’s exactly what I’ve been looking for. After failed attempts at multiple grammar/language arts programs I realized we needed a complete overhaul and I wanted something we could do as a family, but still cater things to my children’s level. I could have gone the DIY route, but I’m also trying to wrangle a rambunctious toddler and I just don’t have the time or energy for all of that! I love that my book obsessed toddler will be entertained and involved with the lessons alongside her brothers!
