Truth in the Tinsel {a Review} and a Black Friday Discount!

Well, Thanksgiving is over… did you enjoy spending time with friends or family?  I l.o.v.e. pumpkin pie, and I am so happy to have had mine. :)

But now that Thanksgiving is over, we are nearing the Advent season – a season of preparation for the birth of Christ.  A season I love even more than pumpkin pie.  Perhaps you and your family celebrate with a store bought or homemade advent calendar.  Maybe you have been pinning all kinds of fabulous advent calendars on Pinterest [guilty!] – but what can you DO each day?

I had the privilege and honor of reviewing the e-book Truth in the Tinsel: An Advent Experience for Little Hands by Amanda White.

This e-book is ah-may-zing.  I’m so super excited about it.  Amanda has written an activity for each day of Advent, to do with your child.  Each page contains a scripture passage for you to read together and then detailed instructions about how to complete an ornament that will help your child to “get it.”  There is also a picture of each finished ornament, so you know what yours should look like in the end.

With a four-year-old and two-year-old, this book is right up our alley.  My four-year-old loves to craft.  I don’t always have the patience for it, and to be honest, I just don’t always take the time to think of kid crafty ideas.  This book is a serious life saver in that department.  All the ideas, planned out, laid out clearly, no extra prep… my kind of crafting.

Here’s the other thing that I adORE about this book.  Amanda has included a list of all your supplies up front.  There is a full supply list [all the supplies you will need for the entire Advent season] as well as a daily supply list [all the supplies you would need for each individual day].  So you can shop ahead for the whole month, or just check a few days at a time for the supplies you might not have on hand.  Brilliant.

And if you don’t feel you could do an activity each day, Amanda has also included several alternate schedules.  So there’s an option for everyone!

I can.not.wait to dig into this Advent experience with my boys!  I know that the hands-on crafting time will help them to truly “get” the meaning of the Christmas season, and hopefully put our focus back to Jesus – not just presents… even though those are fun and we’ll still do those too :)

Now here’s the fun part.  A discount!!  Today Truth in the Tinsel is on sale for only $2.99! [regular price $4.99] Yay!  So today’s totally the day to buy it.

When you do buy the e-book, be sure to like Truth in the Tinsel on Facebook.  The community over there will be participating in a challenge to “give” your child the first 24 days of December with this book.  Join other families who will be encouraging each other, posting pictures, and sharing their kids’ reactions to the activities.  You can also pop over to Amanda’s blog Impress Your Kids to check out what she is saying about her book!

Full disclosure: All the links to the e-book above are affiliate links, so I’ll get a small percentage of your purchase.  I received this e-book in exchange for my review, but my opinions are truthful.  I wouldn’t have told you I loved it if I really didn’t. Promise.
