Earth Day books and a free printable

Earth Day Books for Kids and a Free Printable!

Teaching kids to care for the earth is an important part of our responsibility as parents and educators. Caring for the living things on our planet is about more than just recycling, but about stewarding the gifts we’ve been given. I have a list of some books we have in our home library that are perfect for Earth Day! Plus I have a free printable your kiddos can use to think about how they can contribute to caring for the earth.

Whether you live in the city, on a small homestead like we do, or a large farm, we are all charged with caring for our space. Starting a garden, picking up litter as we go hiking, and learning responsible ways to forage are small things we do in our home to steward the land around us.

Brainstorm with your kids some things you can do in your home, in your neighborhood, or around your greater community. Are there sustainable swaps you can make in your kitchen? Can your family use cloth diapers? What crafting supplies can you thrift instead of buy new?

Along with the book list, I’ve also created a free printable to use in your homeschool. There are pictures to color, a Bible verse to copy, and a writing prompt to inspire your child to think about how they can contribute to caring for the earth.

The pages will download together, but if you prefer not to use the Scripture copywork page, you can easily just print the writing prompt page.
