Wool Berkshire Blazer
I’ve already shared about the pants I made for my dear sister-in-law’s wedding last weekend. But I spent most of my time sewing up this amazing wool Berkshire Blazer for my oldest, who was one of two ring bearers in the wedding.
I’ve sewn the Berkshire Blazer (affiliate link) from Blank Slate Patterns once before, in sweatshirt fleece, so I knew that it was the perfect choice.
The wool came from a rummage sale in the neighborhood two years ago, and everything else was in my stash as well.
If you’re going to make a wool blazer, leather elbow patches are a must.
And when you’re sewing for a seven-year-old boy, you need to throw in a little surprise lining. Wedding appropriate on the outside, party on the inside.
There’s so much to love about this pattern. Pretty much the only thing I don’t like is that we’ve reached the highest size! I’ll have to size it up, because the design is exceptional and I’m in love with the final product.
And what boy doesn’t look adorable in a wool blazer? I’ll tell you.. none.
I’m not going to lie, this is one of my favorite things I’ve ever sewn. Bonus: he loves it too!
Happy sewing, friends!
PERFECT GREY COLOR OF WOOL FOR YOUR SON’S BLAZER YOU’VE SEWN FOR HIS “ring-bearer” role at a relative’s wedding. So versatile to wear for any “dress up” event and the holidays, of course. I like the collar/lapels & the tan leather elbow patches, both are stylish and make the blazer “not quit so formal,” right? And you mentioned he loves it– WOW!
LOTS of Mom’s LOVE sewn into this, including the FAB print lining. THANKS for sharing. Sarah in Minneapolis
This came out great, Jess! I love the contrast between the gray wool and the brown leather. I just finished one myself in cord and just love how smoothly the pattern goes together. I made the largest size for my oldest too and had a tear in my eye while doing it. So sad when they grow out of the largest pattern sizes.
yes, i completely agree stacey!! and thank you :) i love your cord version too!!
Love love love! You did a great job. I love the picture of him on the chairs :). So cute!
Thanks so much, Christie!! That’s my favorite pic too :)
Jess – this blazer and these photos are AWESOME!!! So handsome :)
